Welcome to the second edition of our quarterly newsletter. As Spring is in the air we have lots of news to share with you about exciting activities, past and future events, as well as, our fabulous packages.

Meet the team

Sion Parry - General Manager 195 Piccadilly Being the son of a lovely couple from South Wales Sion was raised in a multicultural environment, having spent ten years of his childhood in Nairobi. He started his career in the hospitality industry by successfully finishing a course at the Swansea Catering College after which he started working at the Ritz in London.

Within the restaurant team at the Ritz, he quickly made his impact felt and was promoted to Head Waiter only nine months after he started. Three years later he became Assistant Restaurant Manager. Not only did his superiors appreciated his qualities, but in 1993 he won the “Waiter of the Year Award” - a great honour.

In 1995 he first met the owners of the Capital Group, the management company operating 195 Piccadilly, and started working for them as manager in one of their businesses then located at The Southbank. Having enjoyed this experience he decided to stay within the group and ten years later moved across to 195 Piccadilly - Headquarters of BAFTA, where you can find him now! Sion is not only well respected by guests and members of BAFTA, but also by the entire team.

His caring and forward thriving personality contributes a lot to the success of 195 Piccadilly. With his kind, helpful manners and continuous presence he assures that all events are a special and memorable experience for you and your guests.

Whilst working at the Ritz he met Karen and is now the proud father of two gorgeous children, Holly and Max. There is nothing more exciting for Sion than to spend time with his family. With a big smile he says "...my life is now complete." - What a great guy!

Screen Dreams Auction
12th June 2008

The most glamorous black tie dinner and auction
of the year returns to BAFTA on 12th June 2008

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts and MediCinema are delighted to announce their third annual Screen Dreams auction and dinner. Screen Dreams 2008 will take place at BAFTA in Piccadilly, on Thursday 12th June.

Once again, the occasion will enable those who love the movies and who believe in the magic of film therapy to support MediCinema; the charity championed by actors including Daniel Day-Lewis, Dame Helen Mirren, Ewan McGregor and Kate Winslet, as it raises funds to install state-of-the-art cinemas in hospitals around the UK. Not only will Screen Dreams offer attendees the chance to make their own screen debut and rub shoulders with the stars, but the remarkable work of MediCinema, which is funded mostly through donations, could one day benefit the lives of every one of us. Proceeds will also help BAFTA to fund education programmes and encourage and inspire fledgling talent within the moving images industry.

Tables of ten participants are sold at a price of £2,500. Included in the price is a sparkling Taittinger Champagne reception to start the night's proceedings, followed by a lavish four-course dinner and an auction of 'money cannot buy' tv and film related experiences. From 11pm, at the end of the Screen Dreams auction, guests will be invited to Chinawhite, the Piccadilly members' club, for further complimentary champagne and dancing.

GAME, SET & MATCH

On Saturday 5th July, get close to your tennis stars and enjoy the Wimbledon Women’s Final with friends and colleagues at BAFTA this year, where the match will be shown on our big screen in the Princess Anne Theatre.

To complete the experience we will celebrate this day with a VIP Pimms Party in our Foyer Bar and David Lean Room. The light and vibrant atmosphere of our bar with its large windows overlooking Piccadilly is the perfect setting for such a summer party.

Included in our Wimbledon Pimms Party Package:

• Access to the Foyer Bar and David Lean Room from 12:30pm to 5:00pm
• Screening of the Wimbledon Women’s Final in the Princess Anne Theatre
• Pimms, beer, soft drinks and a selection of light snacks between 12:30pm and 5:00pm

Tickets are sold individually and on a first come first served basis. Additional drinks can be purchased directly at the bar.

Friday after work parties at Bafta
Make the end of the week a fabulous start

Wouldn’t you like to have your Friday after work party in a really different place – do not look any further! 195 Piccadilly – The Headquarters of BAFTA are now opening their doors on Friday nights for private after work parties. With its fantastic location right on Piccadilly, it is easy to get to and a fabulous starting point for an unforgettable Friday night.

Drinks and a selection of canapés and snacks will be served in the Foyer Bar and David Lean room. With its long mirrored bar and high windows, this is a truly unique venue to celebrate your Friday night.

The Party Package is priced at £49 excl. VAT and including:

• Use of plasma screens and sound system

Additional drinks such as champagne and spirits can be purchased at the bar by the glass. The after work party hours are from 6pm till 11pm. Should you wish to continue after 11pm an additional £25 excl. VAT will be charged on a drinks only basis.

Royal Visit at 195 Piccadilly

195 Piccadilly was proud to host The Princes Foundation for Integrated Health, Integrated Health Awards on Thursday 20th March. In attendance was His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. In a star-studded ceremony in the Princess Anne Theatre the winners of the Integrated Health Awards were announced. HRH The Prince of Wales gave the awards to the various winners followed by a reception in the prestigious members club.

The healing power of nature was a factor in many of the winning projects, so it is appropriate that gardener Alan Titchmarsh hosted the event. Speaking at the ceremony the Prince said 'over the past fifty years we have witnessed the concerted fragmentation of every aspect of our lives, and of nature herself... there is an ever more urgent need for re-integration and for the restoration of harmony and balance.'
