Welcome to the fourth edition of our quarterly newsletter. As Autumn has arrived we have lots of news to share with you about exciting activities, past and future events, as well as our fabulous packages.
Meet the team
Samantha Ratcliffe – Corporate Events Manager
Being the daughter of a successful international academic, Sam spent her childhood in Singapore and Hong Kong, moving back to her home town of Henley in 1993. Having had a diverse and sophisticated upbringing her ideas are still as extravagant as her childhood.
Sam started her career by training as a chef at The Henley College 12 years ago. Work experience over the summers where filled with glamorous events including Glorious Goodwood, The British Open, Henley Regatta and Festival, Paris Air Show and Royal Ascot. These events inspired her to move into event management instead of further developing her skills in the kitchen.

From Henley came Sam’s first proper events job working at The Castle Hotel in Windsor, a year later came London’s event world.
She then joined the team of The Hurlingham Club, London’s most exclusive private members club in Parsons Green where she worked on events such as the Louis Vuitton Concours d’Elegance, The Tennis Classic with past tennis legends and the annual Hurlingham Ball.

In 2003 Sam started working for the Tussauds Group with the godfather of events – Michael Aldridge. Four fabulous years were spent running some of London’s best parties. High society Barmitvah’s, launch parties, wrap parties, a few fashion shows and awards dinners were just some of the events she worked on.
Towards the end of her role the department acquired the managing of events at Thorpe Park and Chessington. One of her last events she produced was the launch of Thorpe’s scariest ride – Stealth, certainly a highlight in her career so far.
“We had stilt walkers who ate fire, a human arch, fabulous food and scariest of all we launched the roller coaster in pitch dark. We had a terrific turn out and wonderful press coverage; it was certainly a proud moment in my career”. |
Outside of work Sam lives in Twickenham with Simon, her partner for 13 years. They are planning their wedding together in a rural Oxfordshire village.
“Spending time with my family is the most important thing outside of work to me, when I am not at 195 I like exploring London, going to the gym and skiing. I adore cooking and partaking in country pursuits and the odd summer holiday to our family house in Spain.”
Her passion for events and sheer determination for success makes her the strong willed person that she is. With an exceptional team behind her, your event is sure to be a memorable one. “What I love about 195 is its fast pace, we can have up to 12 events a day and they are all different. Whether it’s a conference for 200, a post production screening or karaoke evening in the Run Run Shaw, no day is ever the same – that’s why I love it so much”! |
